VConsole by VSource Web Solutions was designed specifically to create back end web based administration and data management utilities. I (Ray Perea) am the author of VConsole and I initially created the VConsole so that I can have a single interface for my clients to manage the back end of their websites. However, over the years, it has evolved and now VConsole can be used for more than just managing the back end of websites, it can also be used as a fully functional - custom - multi user system that can manage everyday tasks for a company.

What is VConsole? It is simply a platform and framework for quick web based application development. It has several functions built in that allow fast programming of back end applications that are integrated with the permissions and user control for the base platform.

In other words, with VConsole, PHP developers can focus on managing data and let VConsole handle a great deal of GUI and other complex operations. VConsole has several PHP functions and managers built in to help you manage things like:

• Data Management - VConsole has the ability to manage MySQL data by displaying a custom formatted data management utility to the end user. The interface looks like and works like a desktop application with column resize, column behaviors, drag and drop, column reordering, filtering and more. This is all done for you by default.
• Wizard Management - VConsole has the ability to take the user through a wizard that will collect and validate data from the end user and hand it back to you in a simple formatted array.
• Image Manipulation - VConsole has the ability to manipulate images like resizing, optimizing, overlaying, thumbnailing and more. You can even create thumbnails of a PDF
• Form Generation - VConsole has the ability to generate PDF forms that are already filled out based on any data record.
• Document Management - VConsole has the ability to attach documents to any record in VConsole. Documents can be managed and even digitally signed and stored.
• Intuitive Search Builder - Users can build their own searches based on text, date, or value so that they can find exactly the information that they want, quickly and easily.
• Graphical Reporting - VConsole has a graphical reporting interface that allows users to build bar charts, pie charts, and more.

Intended Audience: This publication is intended for those who intend to develop their own custom web based applications very quickly using the VConsole web framework. Developing applications in VConsole requires that you are fluent in PHP, MySQL, HTML,  Javascript, and general website development and updating. Other technologies that may also be useful (depending on what type of application you intend to build) are knowledge of XML, encryption / decryption technologies, image manipulation and optimization, SSL secure communication, Flash Action script, AJAX, and CSS. (This is not intended to be a full list of required knowledge as the application that you want to build may require knowledge of other technologies)
